Flipped Education

What is Flipped Learning ?!

In this model of education, students can be helped to develop independent learning skills, build a deeper comprehension of topics, and catch up more easily when they are absent.

Meanwhile, for teachers, the approach allows them to make better use of their expertise and skills by spending less time lecturing and more time helping to develop students’ understanding.

One of the most exciting advancements in the modern classroom is flipped learning. It hinges on the idea that students learn more effectively by using class time for small group activities and individual attention. Teachers then assign students lecture materials and presentations to be viewed at home or outside of the classroom day, prioritizing active learning.

It’s “a pedagogical approach in which direct instruction moves from the group learning space to the individual learning space, and the resulting group space is transformed into a dynamic, interactive learning environment where the educator guides students as they apply concepts and engage creatively in the subject matter.

Technology allows teachers to make the most of classroom time and foster student-driven learning. Currently, high schools and institutions of higher education are leading the charge in adopting the flipped learning model.

What are the benefits of flipped learning?

  1. Teachers Spend Less Time Introducing New Topics
In the flipped classroom, students receive introductory information through self-study prior to class, allowing teachers, who are experts in their fields, to spend less time covering the basics and more time exploring topics in far greater depth.

  2. Students Develop Independent Learning Skills
his enables them to get used to the process of self-study and allows them to learn at their own pace. However, teachers will need to be aware that not all students take to the concept of self-study equally and action steps will need to be taken to support those who struggle.

  1. Teachers Can Create More Engaging Lessons
Flipped classrooms allow more time to be dedicated to interactive learning, investigations, experimentation, and practical application.

  1. Students Who Are Absent Do Not Fall Behind
It can help to reduce learning gaps as introductory information will always be available online for students to catch up on in their own time.

  2. Students Find Classroom Time More Interesting
Finally, one of the single biggest benefits of a flipped-classroom approach is the fact that it can help students to find their time in the classroom more interesting

Flipped Class example :

in this part of the section, I’d like to share with you my experience with Monsieur Lazhar movie, which is finding it very important for all who are interested in the educational field.
I share with you the scene where he wanted to change the classes thems to his students that they have got tied of the normal things every time for the French classes, every time they do reading, spelling, writing, and Grammer. So here he made everything upsidedown “Flipped” and he wrote a passage and has got it already printed and hand it to his students with few mistakes where it is easy from them to find it out,
So he started his class by saying today would do something different, I will be the student and you will be the teachers, which helped his students to feel comfortable and joy during the class. so he started reading in a way where is it easy for them to find out the mistakes, not to mention the story he wrote was meaningful as he wanted to deliver a message to them throughout the story he wrote. Although the movie is in French, you can find it on Youtube with the English translation, I highly recommend this movie to all teachers.

About the Story

In Montreal, an elementary school teacher hangs herself. Bachir Lazhar, a recent Algerian immigrant, then offers his services to replace her, claiming to have taught in his home country. Desperate to fill the position, the principal, Mme Vaillancourt, take him at his word and gives him the job. He gets to know his students despite both the evident culture gap and his difficulty adapting to the school system's constraints.

Bachir eventually comes to be loved and respected by the students he is teaching, but the teacher's death still haunts the students. During a school dance, a student named Simon is found to have a photo of his former teacher. It is revealed that he tried to get her into trouble after she tried to help him through his family struggles. Bachir eventually gets the students to open up about the death, especially Simon, who is blamed and blames himself for causing the teacher's suicide. Eventually, some parents discover that Bachir has no teaching qualification; previously, he had run a restaurant. He is then fired from the school. He asks the principal to be able to teach one more day, convincing her by noting that the old teacher never got to say goodbye to her students.
